MARIA E. CRABTREE, CFLS Ms. Crabtree is certified by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization in the area of Family Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Communications from the University of California at Davis. While earning her bachelor degrees she also completed two minors, one in English, and one in Human Development (focusing on early childhood). Ms. Crabtree graduated summa cum laude from UC Davis after completing an honors thesis that explored three factors that could affect a child's susceptibility to false memory and reporting. Her thesis was developed with the intention to apply its results to child testimony. A few years later she returned to the University of California, Davis, and earned her Juris Doctor degree. Ms. Crabtree volunteered her time as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, writing recommendations for the Court for the benefit of children in the dependency system. While earning her JD Ms. Crabtree also represented indigent victims of domestic violence in their family law matters through the UC Davis Family Protection and Legal Assistance Clinic. Ms. Crabtree has always been, and continues to be, dedicated to helping families navigate through the complexities of the laws and policies that rule family law issues. Dissolution of marriage (divorce), child custody and visitation, child and spousal support (alimony), and domestic violence issues are a focus of her practice. The goal of the firm is to effectively address the client’s needs and concerns during a very difficult time in one’s life. Ms. Crabtree will always keep you informed on the status of your case while she advocates for those needs in an effort to maximize long-term family stability. Ms. Crabtree understands that your children are the most important people in your life and will fight hard to ensure their lives are as unaffected as possible by this change in family structure. Ms. Crabtree herself is divorced and remarried, and as a result, intimately knows the struggles of adjusting to a new family dynamic. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband, her five young children from a previous marriage, and is a bonus mom to her two step-children. When she's not in the office Ms. Crabtree spends her free-time with her family and friends as she recognizes and values the importance of having a strong work/life balance. |
